Step 4: Background Path

This stage pinpoints your character’s youth, background, and early life.

Pick a background or roll on the Random Background Path table. Then go to the appropriate sub-table and either pick a result or roll again. This will determine: your first package of skill points, starting motivation, and starting morph (you may need to roll an additional d10).

After you have finished choosing/rolling, proceed to Step 5: Youth Event.

THE STORY:

This step reflects your character’s origins — where you were born and how you spent your formative years, from childhood into early adulthood. This stage includes family and school as well as early vocational training, academic studies, and early life lessons.

In most cases, your starting morph indicates the one with which you were born. Characters with more advanced morphs were either genecrafted, modified as an embryo, or underwent gene therapy as a child to incorporate traits common to current morph models.
